San Francisco Bay View Newspaper Internship Program

The creation of the Dr. Willie and Mary Ratcliff journalism internship program is significant to the San Francisco Bay View newspaper, for the future of the paper and our community. Here we want to highlight how the program works, provide information for those interested in joining, and share the bios of our current interns and internship leadership.

The Dr. Willie and Mary Ratcliff journalism internship is a pathway program with students from San Francisco State University (SFSU), City College of San Francisco (CCSF), University of San Francisco, University of California – Berkeley, College of San Mateo, Skyline College, and we are rapidly expanding! Our goal is to continue to build robust, unique academic life experiences with our students through journalism, social activism, and community engagement.

We have several partnerships that have gifted resources to cultivate the program and give students stipends. We value paying students for their work. Some of our partners include The African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council in San Francisco and Belle Haven Action in Menlo Park.

We also invite you to support our internship program! Your support is crucial for the future of these young people and the newspaper.

If you are interested in supporting our program or want more information – please contact  Dr. Tiffany Caesar, the Dr. Willie and Mary Ratcliff journalism Internship Coordinator and a professor at SFSU, at drcaesar@sfbayview.com.
